ABOUT
St Festus Academy is a co- ed primary school offering quality education from Preparatory grade to the final year of primary school, Standard 8. The school is located in an agricultural rural heartland of Bungoma County, Western Kenya.

Established in 2005 after passing away of a passionate teacher and a visionary leader, Mr. Festus Wanyama. Mr. Festus Wanyama planned on starting a school in his rural community in order to alleviate high levels of of illiteracy in the community. Unfortunately Mr. Festus Wanyama never got around to starting a school due to ill health that eventually claimed his life.

Mr. Festus Wanyama had a successful teaching career of 35 years including being a school principal at the time of his retirement. In his teaching endeavours, Mr. Festus Wanyama became acutely aware of significant gaps and obstacles encountered by underprivileged families and girl children in accessing quality foundational education.

St Festus Academy was established to honour dreams/plans of Mr. Festus Wanyama starting with 45 students. Over the years, the number of students enrolling at the school has steadily increased and at the present time, 240 students proudly call St. Festus Academy as their school; 38 students live on the school's premises while the rest are day students from neighbouring villages and communities.

The school has 17 teaching and allied staff. Since its inception, the school has shown shown steady improvement in the National Examinations; in 2007 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) St Festus Academy was ranked 4 out of 76 schools in the region.
